About Sharon
Sharon
Pandak has a record of service to Prince William County and
extensive experience in local government in general. Her
work spans the many issues affecting citizens at the local
level. She has a history of serving in positions of
leadership.
For 15 years from 1989-2004 Sharon
served as the Prince William County Attorney. She has
been a Prince William County resident for over 20 years.
Former Governor Mark Warner appointed
Sharon to serve on the Local Government Advisory Committee
for the Chesapeake Bay. She also participated in Governor
Warner’s Natural Resources Leadership Summit. She served on
the legal advisory committee for the General Assembly
Non-Tidal Wetlands Roundtable Resource Group.
Sharon serves on the boards of
directors of the Prince William Symphony, the Prince William County
Historic Preservation Foundation, the Didlake
Foundation and is a former board member of the local
affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. She is on the Partnership & Development
Committee of the proposed Community Performing Arts Center,
Prince William Campus of George Mason University.
Currently Sharon represents local
governments, other public entities, and non-profit
organizations by providing advice and in litigation matters;
much of which is land use related. She continues to assist
statewide groups with training for public officials. Her
seminars for groups, such as the Natural Resources
Leadership Institute, train citizens interested in improving
land use. Sharon has presented numerous seminars in
Virginia on land use (particularly growth issues), local
government, and economic development. She served as an
instructor for the University of Virginia, Sorensen
Institute of Political Leadership.
Sharon
is aware of the challenges facing residents of our County,
the second largest county, and third largest local
government, in Virginia from her almost 25 years of public
service. She worked on a wide range of issues. She has
advised the Board of County Supervisors, County boards, and
other committees and commissions. In addition to land use
and economic development issues, she has also dealt with
social services, emergency services, and many other aspects
in which Prince William citizens look to the County for
assistance in their daily lives. Sharon has worked on
issues at all levels of government, before the General
Assembly, and with State and Federal regulatory agencies.
She has helped develop congressional legislation to assist
emergency personnel in responding across state lines and
negotiated inter-jurisdictional agreements. Directly and
through her staff, Sharon has provided advice to the Potomac
Rappahannock Transportation Commission, Park Authority, and
Community Services Board, among other County related
entities. She assisted with the legal work to create and
construct a cross-county Parkway and was instrumental in
other Prince William mass transportation project such as the
VRE and PRTC along with other public
projects.
Sharon is past President of the Prince
William County Bar Association and past President of the
Local Government Attorneys of Virginia, Inc. Sharon in the
past has also served as the President of Legal Services of
Northern Virginia, which advises indigent residents, and was a
former member of the Virginia Commission on Women and
Minorities in the Legal System board of directors.

Sharon worked with the Democratic Party
local attorney groups on the 2004 and 2005 General
Elections.
Sharon's professional and political
accomplishments have brought her numerous accolades and
awards. In 2003 Sharon received the Prince William
County Bar Association Arthur Sinclair Professionalism
Award; the William and Mary Law School Citizen-Lawyer Award;
and the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia Award for
Distinguished Service.
Sharon obtained her law degree and
Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and
Mary, where she was student government president.
Sharon and her husband live in Lake
Ridge.
